My first HOTEL SOGO experience

Let's be honest.The word "motel" has a negative connotation for us Pinoys. Although the original concept is to provide respite for weary motorists ---thus the name Motorists Hotel---it has become synonymous to "short-time" pleasure.Some purists would therefore stay away from these places.I happen to be not one of them.Yes, I also stay in motels from time to time especially when from out of town and we (me and my wife) feel too tired to go back to Binangonan.

They are cheap and accessible so why not.If it is just a place to spend the night for a sleep deprived soul diba? Hotel Sogo is one of these places.And as the name implies, the brand has evolved into something more than just a motorist hotel but as an accommodation that could cater to the taste of its diverse customers.

So Clean, So Good is the marketing line of Hotel Sogo and I think people are biting into it.Its 33 branches in and out of Metro Manila is a testament to its success.

I honestly haven't tried Sogo before (although I stayed in similar accommodations in the past) until last week when we checked in at Hotel Sogo Guadalupe branch after flying in from Coron.

We stayed in an executive room.It's spacious and themed.My wife remarked ---"maganda rin pala sa Sogo".

I like the built in hair drier and the tv's remote control attached on a cable chord.Admit it, finding the remote each time you want to change channels is annoying.Also comforting to know they have a safety deposit box in the room just in case.Water comes in hot and cold and the restroom has enough space.I just have a little issue with the carpet, I think it need a little more cleaning.After all, Sogo prides itself to be "so good and so clean" so I think they should look into that.

They also have a few appetizing choices in the food menu.My wife and I got very exhausted during our Coron trip plus the weather in Manila was as wet as ever so we just spent the rest of the night inside the room and slept early.Woke up the next day refreshed.

And to go away with the traditional lodging designs, they have also introduced themed rooms in some of their drive-in branches. Be surprised with rooms like James Bond, Fast and Furious, Lost Ark, Tatami, and F1.I heard Tatami is a popular choice and I would like to try it one time.

Overall, the experience was good.The fact that we were able to sleep peacefully for hours meant was the most important gauge.Given the price, the convenience of location and their renovated rooms, Hotel Sogo is a practical choice.
