shabu-shabu dinner at MK RESTAURANT Siam Square

It's funny when you know somebody online for years and meet them for the first time but in another country pa.Same feeling you get when an old acquaintance you haven't seen for quite sometime and meet them in another land. That happened in 2012 with Doc Gelo in Penang.Fast forward 2013 and it's dejavu again. This time, a high school friend/classmate --Gideon -- sa Bangkok pa talaga kami nagkita.

Chao Phraya River Cruise + WAT ARUN

Why go on an expensive Chao Phraya River Cruise when you can do-it-yourself? This we accidentally discovered after visiting the Grand Palace and Wat Pho as Wat Arun is located across the river from Wat Pho and there is a ferry terminal where you can board to cross the river and eventually go on a cruise.

What we did was wait at the park near Chang Ferry Station until the sun was low on the horizon and marveled at the beauty of Wat Arun. This Buddhist Temple is probably one of the most photographed and popular attraction in Bangkok due to to its imposing structure and strategic location along the bank of Chao Phraya river.

female monks at WAT THEPTHIDARAM WORAWIHAN Bangkok

Indecisive moments. After Wat Pho, my friends asked me "What Po ang susunod?"
I didn't know.My planning ended when we left Siem Reap as I wanted our Bangkok tour to be more spontaneous.

We walked to a park near the river where the imposing structure of Wat Arun could be seen. That's actually the original plan---to cross for Wat Arun but it was still a bit early so we tried something else before going back to the same spot in time for a nice sunset view.

This calls for a slowdown. There was nothing else in the itinerary except for dinner with a former classmate in High School already working in BKK, so we wanted to relax a bit.The smell of food on stick lured my friends again as there are many street vendors at the park.

Back to my Thailand Series. At syempre, hindi normal pag wala akong rant post. And this one is a legit rant I tell you-----far graver than the irritating experience in Angkor Wat.

I am sure you have heard of many "scams" in Bangkok Thailand. We had a taste of it during our visit last May.

BPI 24/7 Banking Rewards Clients to #GetOutMore

Our latest tourism data shows a surge in foreign tourist arrival and if we are to believe the DOT, the Philippines is on track to record 5M tourists for 2013 which will be a breakthrough just in case.We have the attractions, that is a fact. This trend is a big welcome because this beautiful country definitely deserves a second look. The industry has a lot of potential. This means work for our people. We owe all of this to the leadership of the government and also because all sectors are working hard to work in synergy rallying behind the tagline #itsmorefuninthephilippines.

The private sector is also stepping up the game and it joys me to see campaigns like that launched by Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) last year called #GetOutMore.

The newly opened branch in Timog is bolder, better!

Luljettas HANGING GARDEN and SPA Antipolo

This  is what I mean when I said something "exciting" has arrived at Loreland Farm Resort Antipolo, the newly developed section on the hillside they call Luljettas HANGING GARDEN and SPA.

Heaven Suspended on a Hill

They did great in transforming this hillside property into what it is now.It took years to develop and that's the good part of it because it was well thought of.

I was already aware of this new development before coming here but I was still blown away when I saw it in person.I used to have a favorite spot at the main resort but this one is now my favorite place.I call it "Heaven Suspended on a Hill." Luljettas is love.

LORELAND FARM RESORT Antipolo has evolved into something "fresh"and "exciting".

It has been five long years since our last visit at this Resort. It was here where we celebrated our 8th anniversary in 2008. We were still dating that time.I actually wrote a "lousy" blog post about the place that time reflecting my humble beginning as a blogger and I am amazed (and partly embarrassed) whenever I read how I accounted our experience.

Loreland has caught my attention again lately. I've been seeing a lot of changes (through social media) so we thought it would be nice to come back and check the place again. It didn't disappoint.I realized that the resort has held a special place in my heart.Seeing the transformation made my heart silently cheer.

the GRAND PALACE Bangkok deserves the title "Grand".

I have already declared many times how I deliberately held back going to Bangkok due to some "silly" reasons. The remarks of some people I know that the city is nothing but another urban chaos like Metro Manila has helped me dismiss it through the years. But the thought that Thailand receives millions of tourists (24million in 2012) haunted me.There must be something that sets it apart from many other destinations that it is so popular.

Yes,Bangkok is Metro Manila five years forward but embedded in this urban jungle are wonderful pagodas,Buddha statues, temples and palaces that makes Thailand deserving to use the word "amazing" in its tourism campaigns.

The GRAND PALACE is only the introduction.
