HALO-HALO de ILOKO is more than just halo-halo

Everybody's already complaining about the hot weather. I was also tweeting about it last week until I realized I have no right to complain since it's already March which means summer has officially started in the Philippines. For us Filipinos, complaining that it's hot is not to say we hate the hot weather. It's more of a shout saying  "ÿes!summer is here!" We all loooove summer. It's the time for beach parties, lazy drinking, tropical fruits and tons of summer food.Ice cream!!!!!!People have been displaying pictures of Magnum ice cream, the latest summer fad, on their Facebook walls. And of course, the good old HALO-HALO will never be out of fashion. Not now that major fast food restaurants like Chowking has created a version for mass production.haha

Now this reminds me of HALO-HALO de ILOKO which we tried after we visit Ma-Cho Taoist Temple in San Fernando La Union last year.
HALO-HALO de ILOKO is more than just halo-halo

HALOHALOdeILOKO

This restaurant is located downtown, closer to the Catholic Church. In fact, you can walk from there after, say, hearing mass. It's a small but intimate restaurant which has attracted a lot of media attention for it's famous halo-halo.Got me curious what's so special with it. :)

They offer All-Day breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, fresh seafood and even catering services. Since it was around 3pm when we visited there, we tried their famous halo-halo for which the place was named after.

Buko Halo-Halo is valued at 140pesos.It's kinda pricey but the serving is really BIG.Plus, you get to eat it in a fresh buko fruit, the milk of which you can request to be placed in a glass for your refreshment later on.If you are on a budget and still wanna try it, you can go for the FIESTA HALO-HALO which is served in a plastic glass, also in big servings.Regular is valued at 80 pesos and kiddie halo-halo is at 55php. They also have ginataang halo-halo----in buko,150 and regular,105php. We ordered BUKO HALO-HALO.

I was anticipating it to be extra special. After all, this place is very popular and is endorsed by many famous personalities and even celebrities. Their Halo-halo is definitely not the average one you taste as it has a lot of ingredients.I was very particular with the milk though. While they served extra milk on a cup (tons of it actually), they used regular milk which I think would have been better if they use goat's milk instead. You know Razon's.I love Razon's on that note except that I hate the fact that there's very little solids you can enjoy. Would have been better if HALO-HALO de ILOKO would serve their halo-halo with goat's milk and still have all those delicious ingredients.Anyhow, it's delicious and just okay for the price. Still is a good summer thirst quencher.

The others ordered Emparedados, a native version of hamburger. It's made from longganisa, bread, and vegetables. Blogger Azrael ordered Okoy Deliosko served with spiced vinegar.I like the okoy. It's something you won't easily find in the metro. But perhaps I was still full that time so all I can remember was that both were heavy on the stomach. The two are served in BIG SERVINGS so be sure to ask what you are ordering. At any rate, you can always take out.

The restaurant by the way is kinda small but the ambiance is definitely good. And they have a 2nd branch under construction during our visit. It's just a few blocks away on the same street.I think it is already open as of writing. This one is definitely more spacious. The staff are lax but friendly. It might take a while before your food is served so be sure not to go hear starving. We were joking that time that the staff might still be climbing at the coconut tree to get our buco.hahaha

This review might sound a little negative but I don't mean to have it that way. All I am saying is, for a highly hyped place like HALO-HALo de Iloko, my high expectations were not met. Maybe next time I should order other delicacies.Looking at their facebook fan page wall, they have a lot in store for a hungry customer.SINIGANG NGA BANGUS BELLY TI ARINGAY,ROOTBEER marinated Pork BBQ,Adobo Zigzag "isaw" BBQ,etc.HALO-HALO de ILOKO is more than just halo-halo.

I still highly recommend that you try this place. After all, maybe it was just me and my poor appetite during that day.hehe

Halo Halo de iloko is located at corner P. Burgos St. and Zandueta St., City of San Fernando La Union, PHILIPPINES

  9. I think what you published made a lot of sense.
However, think about this, what if you added a little content?
I am not suggesting your information isn't good, however suppose you added a post
title that grabbed folk's attention? I mean "HALO-HALO de ILOKO is more than just halo-halo" is a little plain. You
should look at Yahoo's front page and see how they write article headlines to grab viewers to click.
You might add a related video or a picture
or two to get readers interested about what you've written. Just my
opinion, it could make your posts a little bit more interesting.
