impressed with ILOILO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

I rarely blog about Philippine airports. As a matter of fact, the only blog entries I can remember are that of NAIA and the despicable state it is into.Such was my surprise therefore when I saw Iloilo International Airport which impressed me.

This is what airports in the Philippimes ought to be---clean,functional,modern and efficient.Metro Manila should envy Iloilo International Airport.

I was there a few weeks ago to transient for Bacolod where I joined the Masskara Festivities.I wasn't able to get a direct flight to Silay-Bacolod airport so I opted for Airphilexpress flights via Iloilo. It was a good choice coz it also gave me a glimpse of the booming city. Here are some of the photos of the airport which I took without the hassle of being reprimanded by guards.I don't know if taking photos is normally okay at the airport but for a secure terminal like this one, there is no need to feel insecure at all.

Reminds me of the Central Bus Terminal in Kuala Lumpur:impressed by TERMINAL BERSEPADU SELATAN (TBS) at Bandar Tasik Selatan.

PS: They have the best Smoking Area too!

I thought Caticlan Airport servicing Boracay is also nice but it's too small to address the heavy traffic of mostly tourists. Some would have to divert to Kalibo International Airport which is a little old as well.I would say ILOILO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT is the best I have seen so far given the fact that it's in the countryside.Make no mistakes,I loooove NAIA Terminal 3 as well.I think that airport is slowly maturing as it nears full operation soon. But to see an airport in the Visayas this nice really gains my respect. We need more airports like this one in Iloilo para talagang #itsmorefuninthephilippines. Cheers!

AIRPHILEXPRESS is the official airline of pusangkalye.net

  4. Just been here to the new airport twice! The latest was last July in recent trip to Iloilo. I agree, airports in the country's provinces should like this - clean, efficient and modern. I will make an airport review of Iloilo Aiport soon.

    1. malinis sya, in fairness. at ang simoy ng hangin amoy palay pagbaba mo ng plane. yun nga lang talaga malayo sa city, eh ganun din naman sa ibang bansa. dapat lang may train system sila.

    4. @Anonymous, u dont need to go to the main road to get a cab. there are a lot of taxi services upon getting out the baggage claim area. agents are offering taxi services and they are organized. they will drop you off at SM City Iloilo where you can take a lot of connecting routes around the city.

  6. Iloilo airport is the most refreshing airport in country. Plus airport food is really cheap. A really good mushroom soup in one of the food stalls will only cost you 40pesos!
