ACE HOTEL & SUITES: my #staycation2013 started with an Ace!

Since Feb.14 fell on a Thursday,I wasn't really able to date my wife.Consider this as our post-valentine date therefore and the start of my 2013 staycation series which premiered with an Ace,literally --------thanks to ACE HOTEL and SUITES Pasig!

We have already moved to Binangonan from Pasig when D' Ace Plaza opened a few years ago so we didn't get to check the place until recently.I am very familiar with the brand because it was Ace Water Spa Banawe which introduced me to the wonderful world of public baths may years back.D'Ace Plaza is visible if you are passing through Shaw Blvd. and I always see the building since that's the route we take every time we go back to Binangonan.I have always wanted to try the place but has regarded it as a secondary priority thinking that the hotel wing is not to be taken seriously.I was mistaken.

I was really surprised therefore when we got the chance to stay at one of their Junior Suites last February 16.If this hotel could talk,it would say ---"I'm here!".Ace Hotel deserves a closer look. The moment I entered the security detector,I felt the hotel making a statement. If there are new gems to be discovered in Ortigas area, this is gonna be one of them. This place will surely make its mark. From the lobby,to the elevator,to the hallways,to the rooms ------Ace Hotel and Suites exudes freshnessssss!

OUR ROOM
We stayed in a Junior Suite located at the 14th floor.I love the soft hues. The spacious room, the queen size bed and the sitting area.A 32in flat screen tv which is fully rotatable divides the sitting area and the bed area.So many cable channels to choose from. There is an Executive writing desk with ergonomic chair too.
I call it 36sq.meter luxury!

I love this iphone dock.My wife immediately played the love songs in her playlist and we found ourselves tucked comfortably in bed recalling the other hotels we tried and all the happy travel memories. If I am melodramatic,my wife is twice as much :)

HOSPITALITY

Many hotels look good on the surface but get a failing grade with service.New hotel often have this weakness as new staff and crew means unrefined service due to lack of experience.I didn't experience that with Ace Hotel. The staff were accommodating and cool.I used the word cool coz ang chill lang nila.

THE SKY GARDEN
Our room was literally next to the Sky garden. It is an open area where one can access the hotel on one side and the private residences on the other.I loooove open spaces as I have the habit of going out at night and ponder on the day that was before I go to bed.As if our room was not spacious enough,I often open our window to see the Sky Garden outside. My wife loves the place too.

Before you can get to the Sky Garden, you have to go through a restaurant which is used for events. The restaurant is well interiored.I love the ambiance here.

CENTRAL LOCATION
You know it's central location if you are minutes away from key areas.Ace Hotel and Suites is only 15kms away from Ninoy Aquino International airport,a stone throw away from Ortigas District and 7kms away from Makati CBD.

A fellow blogger who works in New Caledonia was on vacation in the Philippines that time and a meetup was scheduled on the same day.It took me only 15minutes to get to Greenbelt 3 where we had dinner together with other bloggers who I met for the first time.It was a quick meeting as I had to go back to the hotel where I left my wife for a short time.Buti nalang malapit lang.I was able to meet them while in a staycation.

ACE COFFEE LOUNGE
A hotel will never be successful without a good restaurant wing.I was looking forward to our breakfast buffet the next day coz I wanted to find out if the place also has an 'ace' in food.Magkaka-alaman na.

That same afternoon (a few hours after check-in), I got to sample their food courtesy of Faith,a student from the University of the Philippines Los Banos who wanted to interview me for her research paper. She already placed her order when I went down for the interview which we agreed to do at Ace Hotel and Suites instead of online (skype). Their clubhouse sandwich was really nice.By that time,I already had a feel of how things are going to taste comes breakfast.

The food selection the next day was impressive for a hotel its scale.Good ambiance, nice food choices.I will write a separate post on the breakfast buffet soon and link it here.

Speaking of ambiance,Ace Coffee Lounge is located at the ground floor where Ace Water Spa is located.Just separate by a glass wall, you can see through the large pool and water therapy facility. It's like eating next to an indoor resort.Summer na summer lang ang feel.So when I said about the hotel exuding freshness, that extends up to the restaurant area and the water spa of course. The smell, the ambiance, the psychological feel --FRESH.

ACE WATER SPA!

Ace Water Spa was actually the main reason we wanted to try the place. My wife and I had good memories of Banawe branch. We never thought we were in for a bigger surprise with the Hotel.

As part of their summer promo, hotel guests get to avail a soothing 4-hour water therapy for two (2) at Ace Water Spa.we availed of our free spa after check out coz we wanted to maximize our stay in the room.We were here to relax so we lazied inside the room most of the time. The water spa experience was an icing on the cake.It made the staycation experience a holistic experience.

Not only that,we got two (2) coupons with 200php off on our next visit. That means each of us only have to pay 350php on our next visit. We will be back this coming weekend to avail of the coupon discount.Spell H-A-P-P-I-N-E-S-S.

I will write more about Ace Water Spa in my next post and link it here :)

OTHER ESTABLISHMENTS
The hotel, being inside Kapitolyo Village is sorrounded by key establishments like banks, bars and restos. If you have your smartphone, click on nearby places on your tripadvisor app and you will know what I mean.Other than the Convenience Store and Figarro Coffee Shop at the building's ground floor, you can find interesting dining places and coffee shops all walking distance away.I did click on my Tripadvisor mobile app upon checkout and I made a new discovery ---- Charlie's Grind and Grill !!!

I will also blog about it soon!
