SAN SUNG Korean Restaurant Makati: intro to Korean food #fail

Knowing that my wife loves spicy noodles,I thought it's high time to introduce Korean food to her.We were actually searching for a Kebab Restaurant in Burgos Street Poblacion Makati during our stay at MNL Boutique Hostel last week when being lost for direction,we ended up in a Korean Restaurant.The name is kinda strange SAN SUNG,sounds like a corruption of the famous electronic giant from South Korea.

This is where we had late lunch during our stay at MNL Boutique Hostel.

It's an introduction-to-Korean-food-gone-wrong.I thought the restaurant is new because there are many flowers in front of it as if it has just. Recently had its ribbon cutting.The waitress said it has been around for a while but it has transferred to its current location just recently.That was quite a relief knowing that they have been in the business for a while.The fact the they have survived might mean they have good food.Well,it doesn't necessarily follow.

I am no expert when it comes to Korean food but I have tried several Korean restos in Ortigas area and they are really good.My personal fave is JANG GA NAE Korean restaurant
 along Escriva Drive Mandaluyong which is just across the street from UAAP.That's near my former office so my friends slash co-workers used to frequent the area.It's bibimbap that I always order and samgyeupsal of course!

First timers to Korean cuisine will never go wrong with samgyeumsal.It is probably the most famous Korean food next to Kimchi which is actually side dish.

I ordered my favorite bibimbap (I love it coz it's not spicy have low tolerance to hot and spicy food) but they didn't have it.They offered me Dolsot Bibim Bab instead which is bibimbab in a hot pot.I wonder why they can offer bibimbab in hot pot and say their ordinary bibimbab is not available.???.Is it really only the hot pot that is different?Well,for one I couldn't recognize the familiar taste of bibimbab.I can't describe it but it felt like eating a completely different dish.I miss their bibimbab at Jang Ga Ne restaurant.In short,I didn't enjoy my bibimbab (in hot pot) much.

Since my wife loves something spicy,I ordered Dwen Jang Chi Ge for her.Last time I remember,their Dwen Jang Chi Ge in Jang Ga Ne has condiments of seafood.This one at San Sung Restaurant Makati --------wala.Just plain vegetables.And that's already 250php. My Dolsot Bibim Bab by the way costs 250php too.

Okay.my wife didn't enjoy her Dwen Jang Chi Ge.It was just the sam geum sal that we both liked.

Here's how much I paid.

Sam Geum Sal ---270php
Dolsot Bibim Bab ---250php
Dwen Jang Chi Ge --- 250php
TOTAL =770php

When my wife said "okay,I think I don't like Korean Food", I felt a sharp pain in my head.My introduction to her of this great dish #failed!

That only means I have to take her to another Korean restaurant soon.Next time,I will make sure I'll take her to a good one.
