WIDUS RESORT Clark: the Finest in Central Luzon

I do get a lot of queries about what hotel to recommend here and there. If it is accommodation in Clark that they ask though, I would always end up apologizing as I haven't tried staying in one in the area.

That until a few weeks ago when we tried WIDUS RESORT.I have been routing for this place because I wanted to find out if all the hype is indeed true. After the experience, I am certainly sure that there is finally a hotel I can confidently recommend to my friends and readers.
WIDUS RESORT Clark

WIDUS RESORT (pronounced as: with , us) has been getting a lot of rave lately partly thanks to social media. It was through blogs that I came to know the place late last year.I honestly thought it's a brand new hotel so I was surprised to find out that the place used to be Hotel Vida.I guess the re-branding and the aggressive marketing really stepped up the hotel's image.

I was surprised to see two Korean-looking ladies at the front desk during check-in.Turns out that they are really Korean Nationals employed by the hotel to attend to Korean guests. My first time to see a local hotel do this.Understandably because many of their guests are from South Korea.

I actually find it similar to Azalea Residences Baguio which is one of my favorite accommodations in the City of Pines. The building facade, the simple yet striking interiors, the non-airconditioned hallways taking advantage of air vents, and the earth tones in rooms.Really reminds me of Azalea.

JUNIOR SUITE ROOM

Speaking of rooms, we stayed in a Junior Suite. It has a floor area of 42sq.meters.Big enough for a small family.King size bed, spacious living room with truddle bed and 32inches flat screen tv fixed on the wall and a mini kitchen with microwave oven and a 6cubic feet refrigerator.Ang laki ng refrigerator! Lol

I welcome the earth tone motif of the room and the fact that it has a balcony facing the pool. The bathroom also has a bath tub.How cool is that!

SALT RESTO: "Best Breakfast Buffet' for a De Luxe Class Hotel."
more photos here: http://www.pusangkalye.net/2013/07/best-in-breakfast-buffet-salt-resto.html

Food is one thing that you can look forward to at Widus Resort. There are four restaurants in the hotel and the main restaurant,SALT RESTO, is where breakfast buffet is served for in-house guests. It's a spacious, modern restaurant with a fresh vibe. With so many hotels we tried, breakfast is always an exciting part.It could make or break your initial perception of a hotel.A disappointing breakfast could ruin everything.

Salt Resto serves both local and international dishes (kimchi and sushi included). The selection might not include expensive dishes like Angus beef and that kind of stuff,I was surprised at how generous they are with the diverse selection. There's a lot to choose from, from main dishes to appetizers and desserts. No other hotel restaurants in the category of De Luxe Accommodation has surprised me as much as Widus did.And the dishes definitely passed the taste test so I am giving Salt Resto my pick for the ***Best Breakfast Buffet' for a De Luxe Class Hotel.

The restaurant is open from 6am till 10pm.Take note, only until 10pm.I remember that by heart coz my wife and I got so comfortable with our bed that we napped until 10pm.They were already closing when we went downstairs for our supposed dinner. We ended up in a fast food chain outside the hotel where we had to walk for around 15minutes. Quite a pain indeed if you don't have a private car. This is true if you are to stay anywhere in Clark.

The good part is that Clark is quiet and safe at night.Streets are brightly lit and there are guards at major street intersections.Side walks are also well defined and are lined with tall trees. The weather was good that night so the 20-minute walk to the nearest fast food chain was like a walk in the part.Imagine us holding hands while walking and you get what I mean.Wink ***

PRISM LOUNGE Bar

It was already too late for a night swim when we got back as the pool was already closed as well. Not a problem for the two of us whose day seem to have just started.Prism Bar which is right next to Salt Resto at the ground floor was there to spice the night. This place is alive during the night.Cozy couches await those who are in for a drink and good entertainment.Saturday nights are 80's night where a live band takes you back into memory lane.We 80's kids of course so we really enjoyed the show.I ordered beer for myself and cocktail drink for my wife and stayed there until I got tipsy.Went back to our for a blissful 7-hour sleep.

The GYM
The hotel has a small gym for those who are health conscious. In the early days, going to a hotel gym was out of my vocabulary. With my recent determination to stay in shape lately though,I always feels excited about integrating gym session into our staycation. And so we burned the extra calories we put up after that hearty breakfast for 1.5hours. Nothing fancy really.I wish they have a bigger space and more equipment though.

AISIA SPA
Near the gym is Aisia Spa.I think the name is perfect for a spa in a hotel where many of the guests are Koreans. They have various spa services with reasonable prices for foreign guests. The advantage is that clients can opt to have their massage in their rooms.

CONVENTION HALL

Widus is an integrated resort. It has a convention center which could accommodate large groups for conferences and events. They also have a gaming facility which attracts a lot of foreign gamers in their Casino.Locals are not to be left behind of course as there is a growing interest among Filipino citizens in this.Clark is of course famous for its casinos and Widus is one of the most well known in the area.

Since me and my wife are not into it, we stayed mostly in the hotel. There's so much to do.An overnight stay was nit enough it seems but it was indeed a different setting altogether staying in a developed yet with a provincial feel area like Clark.

THE POOL
We didn't try the pool until the next day.July is officially rainy season in the Philippines but it was surprisingly sunny during our entire stay.It means we were able to enjoy swimming for more than an hour. The pool of course has become a familiar poster and promotion sight for Widus Resort.Talk about saving the best for last on our staycation.
