OCEAN SUITES Boutique Hotel Tagbilaran Bohol: Amazing Ocean View of Panglao

Afraid of going to Bohol because of expensive accommodation? It's easy, don't book for a hotel in Panglao, stay in Tagbilaran instead. That's where you can find cheap hostels for as low as 800 pesos a night. You might not have a beach view but the sand is only a few minutes away from the city and could be easily accessed on a day tour. Other than renting a car, bike or joining group tours, there is also the option of taking the jeepney from the central terminal in Tagbilaran to Panglao.

And there's this relatively new hotel in Tagbilaran that is just next to the Blood Compact Monument-- literally. And if you are familiar with this famous landmark, it is situated on the coastal highway facing Panglao Island. Yeah, it is in Tagbilaran City categorically but it has the countryside con mature feel because it is at the outskirt. And it's not just new, it's chick and best of all,I love it!

The View, The View !!!

The view is the one to die for. You will be surprised at how small the hotel is---just a few rooms and it looks as if it has only two floor. But they made an amazing job at maximizing the small space. Since it is located on a slope, the architect was able to integrate an underground pool of some sort smacked right at the middle of the hotel with the slope offering an view of the mangroves below, the sea beyond the shoreline and the island of Panglao from afar.

From the small reception area, you can already see the pool from there. It seems like a flowing space from the entrance to the reception area, the pool and the infinite nature view. Thanks to the use of glass, mirrors and light paint, the place exudes space, freshness and warm feel.

The Room

They have four (4) room types, superior, deluxe ocean suites, premier ocean suites and family oceannsuite. We booked for a superior room and guess what, we only had it for 2,000 pesos. Seriously? On a summer season? Yes! The Best 2,000 pesos you'll ever spend!

Our room has a view of the main road but it was ok. We were very happy with it. Fresh smelling, clean, simplistic. Imagine the happiness if you book for an ocean suite? With a 32 inch cable ready tv, mini-bar and fridge, the room is fully functional. Airconditioning is central and very efficient. This is very important especially on hot summer days.Comes with free wifi too. Nice!

The thing that I don't like about it though is the sink. The wash area is not in the restroom area but next to the bed.It blends with the interior, yes, but the floor could easily get messy with all the water splatter when you wash. Ako pamandin yung mayat-maya eh naghuhugas.

Another thing is the socket. There are many plugs but if you go with another gadget-heavy traveller, then it would prove to be a challenge. No choice but to make use of the socket located just behind the bed's headboard. It's a bit of a challenge especially if you have the habit of using your smartphone while charging and lying in bed. Then again, no biggie really. We were very happy with our room.

When Night Falls
The central element of the hotel is the pool area. It serves like a magnet which draws you in. We were here for sunset and the view was really nice. We stayed until it was dark sitting by the loungers while sipping ice cold beer. Sarap ng kwentuhan oag ganitong setting. I noticed that some people go to the hotel just to dine. Sinasadya talaga kahit medyo out of town na from downtown Tagbilaran. The restaurant located at the ground floor gets busy from afternoon till night. There are additional seats by the poolside and another closed dining setup for more private gatherings still by the poolside.

This place definitely was special.

The Restaurant:
OCEAN SUITES CAFE

With the 2,000-peso room rate, you even get breakfast for two. Only set meal with only something like four choices but what else can you complain about with this deal. We picked beef tapa set for our complimentary breakfast and then ordered something else extra later on.

The restaurant during breakfast offers nice view as always.

For extra, we ordered Pancit Canton for 220 pesos. Comes with good presentation but nothing really to wow for when it comes to the taste. I actually thought it was a bit salty for me. We also ordered Tuna Sandwich, again, AAA+ for presentation, halatang me effort and the taste was good. For 150 pesos, you get a big pandesal stuffed with tuna and dressings cut into two. Also comes with French Fries and salad. Quite filling.

  3. Hi there. Are you referring to the beaches of Panglao? You need a private transpo to get there. The hotel has transpo service but comes with a separate fee. You can also hire a tricycle if you are ok with that kind of tranpo mode. cheers!
