The AZUMI BOUTIQUE HOTELDifference --The Hip Lobby, Gardens Rooms, Infinity Lap Pool and more! #AlabangStaycation

When we hear "boutique hotels" we normally think of small, non full-serviced hotels that's lacking in amenities. Some of my best stays though are with this kind of accommodation. Boutique hotels with distinct appeal including the Henry Cebu and lately Azumi Boutique Hotel in Alabang.

The two are being managed by Hospitality Innovators which is the pioneer in handling lodging properties with its trademark creativity and expertise. Azumi Boutique Hotel is yet another of these unique accommodations Hii has on its sleeves. If it is managed by Hospitality International, it must be good and distinctive indeed.

While it might be true that these boutique hotels cannot go head-to-head with the big ones, I see them now as warm spaces with something unique to offer and personnel who are very attentive to service and detail. It's like a big city vs small city analogy if you get what I mean.

LOCATION
For those who are familiar with Filinvest City, the hotel is nearby Madrigal Business Park which is in the quiter side of town. I like the area because buildings here are not too high and are beautifully spaced. So while you know that you are in the city with all the conveniences around, you still get that sense of not-so-crowded feel.

Walking distance away is Alabang Town Center and Molito Mall. If you are coming from Ninoy Aquino International Airport, it’s a mere 10 minutes away.

AESTHETICS, WARMTH AND COMFORT
Azumi Boutique Hotel is a cool and hip concept hotel. It truly lives to that claim. The lobby is a visual treat. I like the way they stacked unique figurines and picture frames in wooden shelves, the earth tones of the paint and the comfortable sofas beautifully adorning the lobby. The place exudes of aesthetics, warmth and comfort.

The corridors are simple and gives a sense of dignified appeal.
Sakin kasi "big turn off" ang mga corridors na para kalang naglalakad sa corridor ng hospital. lols

GARDEN ROOM
We stayed in a garden room at the 6th floor where all rooms in this level have garden balcony. This is a 47 sq.meter studio unit with one queen size bed. The mood is rather dominated by earth tones which I love given that most hotels in the Metro go with the typical light cream interior paint. Other than the queen size bed, there is a one day bed on the side which serves as sofa that you could convert into a single bed. No need to go through the hassle of requesting for a bed for an extra person. There's Samsung LED cable tv which is good although it would have been more lovely if it is a little bigger.
On the entire length of the other side of the wall from the bath to the wall-to-ceiling glass slide leading to the garden balcony is a mirror which I love because it makes the room look even more spacious. This gives the room an airy, spacious and continuous feel. The garden balcony of course is something you can hardly find in a hotel in Manila. I actually cannot remember staying in one with this feature.

I love open spaces and our room having a garden balcony is something I really enjoyed. The master-planned Madrigal Business Park is something I hardly noticed in the past but I came to appreciate the simplicity of the area with building not too high so as not to give that big-city-toxic feel.

THE BATH
The bathroom is glass walled with hot and cold shower.I find the shower temperature a bit difficult to adjust and the water pressure a little weak but overall the experience was good. Toiletries are provided and towel are clean and fresh smelling.

REFRIGERATOR AND MICROWAVE OVEN
There is a mini-bar, a refrigerator,a microwave oven and coffee maker. There's also in-room free wifi connection. Other necessities such as iron/ironing board and hairdryer are available on request.

INTIMATE NIGHTS
A well lit room with lighting not too harsh on the eyes. Works perfectly with the effect of the wall with a full mirror. The room becomes a relaxing place where you want to just cuddle and sleep as long as you can. The bed is not the softest I tried but you are sure to be in for a comfortable sleep. The sheets and pillows are fresh and that is very important. I like the wooden floor because I love the sensation of walking around the room barefooted. I didn't have to worry about the floor being to cold at all. Wifi signal inside the rooms was strong so either you prefer watching cable tv or do social media while cooling down, both are a pleasurable experience.

All rooms are non-smoking rooms including the garden room. There is a small table outside and two chairs. Perfect if you want to relax outside with a bottle or two of beer. The view of the well lighted room from here is simply inviting.

THE INFINITY LAP POOL
This is one major attraction at the hotel. Located at the Penthouse level, the infinity lap pool gives a cooling relief to guests. You can hardly find an in-city hotel these days with an infinity pool. The concept works well in this part of the Metro because there are not so many tall building to obstruct the view. The buildings in nearby Filinvest City are a thing to marvel and the view of Laguna de Bay from here is simply beautiful. Look North and you can amaze at the skyline of Greater Manila area with the skylines of BGC, Makati and Manila bay Area.

We were here at around 3pm and I say that is the perfect time for a dip. The water was well heated during the day so it was warm when we had a swim. We stayed for more than an hour enjoying the entire length of the pool. Our daughter had a great time in as much as me and my wife did.

THE POOLSIDE AT NIGHT
The poolside is intimately lit at night. It is open until 10pm so you can enjoy a night dip like no other. Order food or drinks from Romulo Cafe and simply chill here. Watch the beautiful city lights below or marvel at the stars on a clear night. I noticed that it is breezy here most of the day. Perhaps because of the absence of high rises in the area and the cooling effect of the lake nearby.

BREAKFAST BUFFET
Romulo's Cafe is where guests have breakfast..The buffet selection was rather simple. Breads, cereals, soup, a few dishes like braised pork, scrambled egg, pancit, sushi, maki, fruits and vegetable salad notably. The dishes are tasty so the simple spread could be forgiven. I like the braised pork in particular is tender and flavorful. I also like their sushi. Fruits were fresh and the garden salad a treat. My wish is that they offer yogurt as fruit selection yogurt is something I always look forward to in breakfast. Fortunately, one can request for milk as coffee and juices are the only drinks in the spread.
