SAMPALOC INN: Your Budget Accommodation in Tanay

Upper Tanay in Rizal Province is developing. And with it's Tagaytay-like weather and scenic location at the foot of Sierra Madre Mountain Range and natural attractions, it has seen a spike in high-end specialty accommodations like that of Ten Cents to Heaven and Martessem Mountain Resort to name a few. But if you are looking for an affordable place to stay when you are here, Sampaloc Inn is the answer.

Sampaloc Inn Tanay Rizal
Location: Approximately one kilometer away from the junction of Sampaloc Tanay Rizal.

Don't expect a grand lobby. As stated, this is a budget hotel. For one, the lobby is spacious with enough comfortable chairs for waiting guests. I find it a bit rustic though with old furniture of different sizes. I thought the lobby could use a little organizing to make it more warm and pleasant looking. We were here on a Sunday night so there were a few guests and the placed looked a little sad.

The corridors are stripped of any accent but are clean. The inn offers two kinds of accommodations ---de luxe and family rooms ---and we stayed in the latter. The room is simple but comfortable enough for a restful night sleep.

The area is quiet at night, something I welcome since we were here to rest after a day of so much physical activity.

Sampaloc Inn shares the street with Camp Capinpin which became famous because this is where former president Erap was placed on house arrest.
It also serves as a marker to the newest attraction in the area ---Pililla Windmills.

This is where we found ourselves having dinner during our stay where we sampled their new menu including what could be their bestseller --Sizzling Bulalo.

Bulalo is notorious to cook but Mike, the restaurant chef did a good job at cooking the meat to perfect tenderness before serving it in the sizzling plate. The sauce is also perfect. We also sampled their seafood pasta. Very good. And the veggie salad I find handy, pantanggal umay. To end the meal, we had this dessert they have no name yet but a mix of ube and leche flan with ice cream on top. Sarap!

Before going back to our room, we sang a few songs at the small stage they setup complete with neon lights and high chair. I felt like a performing artist that night. If you are a little shy, there is a private singing room which could accommodate a small group. Perfect sa barkada.
