The Appeal........

_________________________________________________

I have been trying to force myself
to read books again
but to no avail.
The best that I can do
is to check the website
of the country's
largest bookstore
just to have a feel
of the books that are doing
well in the domestic market.
For lazy people like me,
the easiest thing
to do is browse for some local bestsellers
then try to expand the research to
include other printed materials that
this world could offer.( there is really a lot to cover)

here is the top 10 bestsellers from national bookstore's website;

1.The Witch of Portobello
---Paulo Coelho
2.A Thousand Splendid Suns
---Khaled Hosseini
3. Playing for Pizza
---John Grisham
4.The Host
---Stephenie Meyer
5.The Devil Who Tamed Her
---Johanna Lindsey
6.After Dark
---Haruki Murakami
7.The Quickie
---James Patterson
8.Rant
---Chuck Palahniuk
9. Chasing Harry Winston
---Lauren Weisberger
10.Gone with the Wind
---Margaret Mitchell

As expected, the usual names, Grisham, Coelho and Johanna Lindsey are in the list. It was interesting to note though that THE APPEAL, the latest book of John Grisham is not yet hitting the stores in big numbers. So I decided to put a simple profile and synopsis of this book for myself and for those who are also trying to rekindl;e their passion for reading....

___________________________________________
Author: John Grisham
Country: United States
Language: English
Genre(s): Thriller novel
Publication date: January 29, 2008

Synopsis:
In his latest legal thriller, novelist Grisham takes a hard look at a subject as current as today's headlines: how elections can be bought. When a Mississippi court hands New York-based Krane Chemical a costly verdict over toxic pollution, the corporation sets out to shield itself from future lawsuits by rigging an election to place its own candidate on the Mississippi Supreme Court. In "The Appeal," Grisham reveals just how easily truth can be twisted, politics subverted, and voters manipulated for private benefit and public detriment.

....good luck to all of us lazy book lovers.kkk

Comments

  1. Taking notes of the enlisted books. I might have interest in reading them someday.

The Appeal seems a nice book. Its synopsis says it. The story has similarities with Prison Break.

Btw, I like the books of Robert Ludlum.
