Been seeing cosplayers several times in SM-Megamall. You can never miss them during big events as they are scattered all over the 5th floor in large numbers.I have to admit, they are fun to look at. It's interesting that these people spend so much money just to dress up like their favorite animation characters ---and boy, they sure look similar to the characters they portay.
Everybody's aware of the fanaticism that we have for Japanese animations but cosplay takes the whole addiction to a different level. Doing a little research on the history of cosplay in the Philippines left me frustrated though. I can't google any. It is in my assumption it is relatively new in our country compared to our neighbors. Despite that, I am sure it's picking momentum as more and more young people are getting into it.
Had the chance to shoot real cosplayers for the 1st time last Saturday in SM North Edsa as part of the Nationwide Cyberzone Cosplay Tour. It was a simultaneous contest taking place in all SM cyberzones across the country. Having said that, we had expected that only a few cosplayers will be there as the participants are divided based on location. Six members of YOPHO including myself joined the fun.
..now, meet the girls .
Beginner as I was, I failed to talk to the cosplayes and ask for any information. It was just through my friends blog ---http://alexminded.com/ that I found out about the group Bulacan Cosplay Mania where Erza Scarlet , L and Mystogan are members.
With YOPHO around, expect a lot of camwhoring to happen.
Lesson learned. This, from my friend Alex's example. Learn to connect with them, get some contact information so that you can provide links for feedbacks as well as share with them their pictures. After all, it's not just about taking photos, the interaction after it completes the whole experience. Thanks Alex for being such a mentor to me.
