Boston Massachusetts and the 5 PLACES I wanna visit in the US

I have the habit of making pronouncement. It works most of the time though.I do it because it pushes me to do what I declare because I have already said it.When I was just starting on my career as on Online English Teacher for Korean students,I was asked many time what my plans are for the medium term.I told one of my students I dream of teaching in the US someday.

That same student happens to be my student until now,4years has passed and the dream seems to be getting more and more remote. The US has always been a far from my financial reach. To start with, its far and the process of getting a working visa is rigorous and expensive.I was asked by the same student again a few days ago.Do you still want to pursue you dream of going to the US he said.I think I want to go to US but not for work anymore, maybe one day as a tourist I said.Fingers crossed.

The US is a vast territory with lots of diverse attractions. One of the main concerns therefore is the cost.Especially on accommodation. After reading and article on Massachusetts Vacation Rentals
though,I realized it could be practical.

So,what are the places I wanna see and visit in the US if given the Chance to travel there?

1. San Francisco California

Let me start in the West Coast first.San Francisco has always t ickeled my imagination.I know New York is the City to See when in the US but I have always felt that San Francisco has this romantic edge over New York.I wanna see Russina Hill, take the cable car to Hyde street and marvel at the overlooking view of the city below.I remember one of my favorite movies,SWEET NOVEMBER starring Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron, Theron who plays the role Sara in the film lives in an apartment block uptown with a great view of the downtown area.I would love to walk that street! And the Golden Gate Bridge of course!Who wouldn't want to see it?

I also heard that Sam Francisco is the most liberated city in America. How true?I wanna feel that myself.

2.LAS VEGAS

Only at #2 in the list and I am starting to realize that I am a city person.Nah,there's also New York below in the list. But why Las Vegas? Manny Pacquiao. This is where his historic boxing matches were held right? And so nobody from the Philippines don't know the glittering lights of Las Vegas Nevada. What makes my curiosity tick though is on how this vast city rose from the deserts of Nevada.Or maybe it's the vibe which entices me.

The SIN CITY they say?If so,I wanna experience sin for a day!haha

3. GRAND CANYON
Let's not forget that I love landscapes. And if it is landscape in the US,I think nothing beats the GRAND CANYON in Arizona. It is the central feature of the Grand Canyon National Park which covers a vast area, 4,926square kilometers.Wow!It's just lately that I discovered that the Park is also a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE Site.Should be.The Grand Canyon is definitely an attraction in the US.

President Theodore Roosevelt remarked this about the Grand Canyon

"The Grand Canyon fills me with awe. It is beyond comparison—beyond description; absolutely unparalleled throughout the wide world... Let this great wonder of nature remain as it now is. Do nothing to mar its grandeur, sublimity and loveliness. You cannot improve on it. But what you can do is to keep it for your children, your children's children, and all who come after you, as the one great sight which every American should see."
I am ready to be awed!!!!

Reminds me of my favorite animation too,The Last Airbender and all those Earthbenders. Now why are all these films playing in my head?:)

4.NEW YORK City

New York should never be discounted of course.New York is the "it" city if you want to see what progress means.I heard Tokyo has higher per capita income but New York City is no doubt one of the most vibrant city in the world.I wanna see Wall Street, Home to New York Stock Exchange, the world's largest Stock Exchange in terms of market capitalization. It's interesting how this place could impact the lives of millions, maybe even billions,of people around the world. The sheer size of trading here could determine the health of the global economy and even trigger the next global financial crisis.

I wanna see National September 11 Memorial & Museum, the symbol of how resilient New Yorkers are in the face of challenges. The 9/11 attack was a big blow to to New York, but they managed to get up and show everyone that they are undeterred and that their spirit is unbreakable.

I heard it's an artist heaven too.It continues to attract talents from all across the world.I wanna see it's vibe and character.I wanna feel how a city manages to handle all of the economic activities and the fast paced life of its citizens.

Watching a Boradway musical would be lovely too!

5.Boston Massachusetts

This may come as a surprise. But I included Boston in my list because I heard lots of good stuff about it from my South Korean student who's been there last year. They went to New York with his family then visited Boston.

Turns out that his Grandfather studied Doctorate Degree in Harvard University.Wow!I wanna see Harvard and Massachusetts Institute of Technology too, some of the finest universities not just in the US but in the world. It would be interesting to learn how America is able to attain such level of educational excellence (in the university level at least) Why do they have the best universities in the world? That has always kept me curious.

"Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education"
Was it John F kennedy who once said that?I think we in the Philippines should pay attention.

There goes the 5 PLACES I wanna visit should I have the chance to go to the US.Keeping fingers crossed :)
