Cheap Room in Bacolod: CHECK INN Pension House

There are so many accommodations in Bacolod City. But during Masskara Festival, finding one could prove to be a big challenge. So if you are planning to fly to the City of Smiles during Masskara,I would suggest you book ahead.I made up my mind two months before the Oct.20 finale but rooms were already full.I called many hotels but to no avail.

The famous Enrico Dee of http://www.byahilo.com/ created a group on Facebook adding all the travel bloggers planning to attend  this year's Masskara and that's where I posted my concern. Two bloggers contacted me and offered that I could stay in their room. The bloggers I am referring to are Ramil and Ed of http://www.pinasmuna.com/.They were my life saver.

CHECK INN Pension House is the place.

We stayed in a Business de Luxe Room. Quite spacious for an accommodation with two single beds for only 950 pesos.Extra person is only 100pesos.You pay extra though if you request for an additional bedding. So what we did was to join the two single beds together. The three of us were able to fit.As a matter of fact, another blogger joined us during the 2nd night, Shekinah of http://shekinahdiary.wordpress.com/ .

I have a few complaints though. The towels are old and smelly. At some point,It even felt like using a rag.Damn,I should make it a habit to bring my own towel.Next time.

And the pillows are smelly too.Well, you get used to it.And I did. There's hot shower but water pressure is too weak I suggest you shower early if you want a thourough clean. And we were joking about the hallways, one of my roommates remarked that it feels like being in a public hospital, kulang nalang is me nurse na dumaan na may tulak na cart.hahaha

Other than that, the location is perfect for Masskara as it is situated a few blocks from the Old City Hall and the street in front of the Old City Hall is the same avenue where the Masskara Street Dance Competition passes.A little warning though, the area is an old district so it feels like being in Quiapo or Recto at times. It could really get dirty and smelly during the festival.

But if you are not choosy, okay na.Although I think you can find a better room with the same price range.Just book early :)

In my case,I was a bit apprehensive at first (first few hours lang naman) but when the Masskara Spirit sank in,it really didn't matter at all.You get engulfed by the Masskara mood that everything else is fun. Also thanks to my cool roommates,I enjoyed my stay at Check Inn Pension House and the whole Masskara2012 experience was indeed memorable!
