#FoodReview: NAV- MODERN THAI CUISINE RESTAURANT and the Best Tom Yum Goong in Town!

Tom Yum Goong is my favorite of any other food I tried to date and the best one was in Phom Penh in 2013. Yum! I therefore get ocassional cravings for tom yum and I realized it's not easy to to find a Thai restaurant in Metro Manila especially outside malls. Alas! We hit the spot last time while on staycation at Privato Hotel Pasig (Read: PRIVATO HOTEL Staycation + Food Finds in #KapitolyoPasig) thanks to Tripadvisor app. Kapitolyo, where the hotel is located, is a restaurant wonderland. Inside the village across the street from Ace Hotel and Suites is Nav-Modern Thai Cusine Restaurant where we discovered the best ever Tom Yum Goong in town!

Tom Yum Goong @

A relatively small place. An interior not so much of Thai rather more contemporary. Nav boasts a menu packed with bestsellers. Be sure for the red marking with N on the listing and that's their best selection. There are so many to salivate for! Price range for 2 pax is around 700-800 php. It was here where we had dinner on a rainy night and we thought a hot soup would be perfect. We ordered Tom Yum Goong, Green Curry and Khao Kluk Kapi (Bagoong Rice).

Tom Yum Goong -365php
Green Curry -250php
Khao Kluk Kapi -295php
Chang Beer 330mL - 50php

The curry was perfect, creamy and just the right saltiness. The Khao Kluk Kapi was the perfect base to compliment the dishes. The star of the night of course was Tom Yum Goong , the best I tried in the Metro so far. The taste was as close to authentic. This one at Nav is something you will crave and go back to. My companion was all about Tom Yum even days after the dinner. "Heavenly" , that's what I described it to him when the many ingredients explode in your mouth like a pyromusical spectacle. Of course that's the nature of Tom Yum Goong but what makes one a standout from the rest is the perfect balance of all the flavors. We wanted our Tom Yum Goong spicy and it was perfectly eaten hot. Medyo bitin sa sabaw coz we wanted to sip more but it was all good. We paid around 800 pesos for the dinner and we left the resto with a big smile. I wanna go back and try the other dishes in the menu. ^^
And of course, what better way to have a Tom Yum Goong meal than paired with a nicely chilled Chang Classic beer. The restaurant sells in 330mL bottles and 1st time kong makakita ng maliit na Chang. In Thailand, they have these 500mL bottles and I hardly noticed one this size.
