Financial Literacy......

_________________________________________________________

I am a card collector, BIG time.
My favorite, atm cards.
I don't have any difficulty doing it.
coz I get one every year under my name.

Seriously though, the reason is because I'm a complete wreck when it comes to my finances......In 5 years, I got 4 bank accounts. 5 as a matter of fact with my latest being the only one active and operational so to speak........(although I will tell you some other time that I feel a bit guilty about it)

It all boils down to financial literacy

Last year, I read Robert Kiyosaki’s book RICH DAD, POOR DAD. It was very informative. Not that the things he mentioned in it are something new but because reading it made me realize a lot of things about myself and my ability in managing my finances.

As a young boy who grew up in a remote place in Northern Philippines, I was not taught by my parents to be financially literate. I mean they have always told me the value of saving money but I think that is not enough. I think part of educating young people on the value of money and saving money should not end by simply telling them its importance. The most significant thing is to teach them the way to do it..........

Of course this book is not about saving money. It goes more than that. But you have to start somewhere right?
This also made me realize that Filipinos in general (including myself) are poorly educated when it comes to understanding money and how it works.....
