Berklee alums Tess Salientes and Gerard Salonga have prepared a specially composed musical theme for the event, with an incredible fireworks display after the performance.
Camp Suki will be offering kalesa rides, on-the-spot artists who can sketch/draw your portrait (for a fee), and a turn of the century photo complete with costumes.Gerardo de Leon’s 1961 classic “Noli Me Tangere” will be shown on one of the walls of the ruins of the American barracks, courtesy of CCP and SOFIA (Society of Filipino Film Archivists) who were responsible for the restoration of the film.
Sipat Lawin Ensemble will be performing an avant garde  piece wherein they are going to march backwards from Luneta to Fort Santiago doing a reenactment of Rizal’s execution. They will also be doing pocket performances throughout the evening.

Traditional food from the era in which Rizal lived will be sold by concessionaires Ilustrado, Barbara’s, and Adarna Food and Culture. The Manila Diamond Hotel is baking a special birthday cake for Jose Rizal, recreating Rizal’s book stand with his Noli Me Tangere placed on top. Rizal’s book stand is being restored by Escuela Taller of Intramuros.
The Lopez Museum will be showcasing  their extensive Rizal collection, and will be on display on the Plaza Armas.

Dr. Jose Rizal is my personal hero, the perfect example of how a Filipino should live his life. He was a traveler, a novelist, a patriot, a linguist, a scholar,a linguist and more. He is what every Filipino should aspire to be. We might not be able to equal his achievements but he is an inspiration to all of us. Happy 150th  birthday Dr. Jose Rizal!!!!

  1. di ako die-hard fan ni rizal, kaya so-so lang para sa akin ang 150th bday ni Rizal. pero i-respect the heroism na ginawa nia at pati sa 2 novels na ginawa nia.

  2. Rizal is also my hero. He's a genius with a heart. ♥ Happy 150th birthday, Doctor.

  3. its been in a while noong huling punta ko sa luneta... pero babalik ako dito to do more shoot and to learn a new things about rizal :D

  4. kung meron na sigurong Internet noon, he could have been the first Pinoy travel blogger!

  7. @Ollie---ka-abang abang naman yan.hahaha.alam na!!!!

  8. Di ako nakajoin sa ongoing campaign neto. Asa Toycon din sila di ba?

Lovely visit from Liz of Spread the WORD!

  9. I was, I am and I will always be a Rizal fan. His ideas continue to be relevant to this day and for many more years to come. His thoughts on human rights, human values, the dignity of man, the value of education and love of country and the environment made him the ideal model for the Filipino people. But for the Filipino Youth- the "Fair Hope of My Motherland!" Rizal ought to be not only an ordinary model, he is a perfect example of excellence.
