felt Soooo Good at ALEGRE BEACH RESORT and SPA

Alegre Beach Resort was out of my travel radar until recently when a friend introduced the place to me.Located in Sogod Northern Cebu Province, our Alegre Beach Resort experience felt soooo good!

Sogod is approximately 2 hours away from downtown Cebu City.We took the bus from Cebu North Bus Terminal. The trip was comfortable as we opted for an aircon bus bound Hagnaya for only 85pesos per person. We told the bus driver to drop us at the intersection leading to Alegre, they know it.It is about four kilometers away from there to Alegre Beach Resort.

Once getting off the bus, a habal-habal driver offered us a ride for twenty pesos each.I immediately stared at my wife in utter surprise.I didn't imagine myself going to a high-end resort in such fashion.Although on second thought,I didn't imagine myself going there via tricycle as well.No choice.Being a travel blogger gives me an excuse to try all forms of transportation to get to a place and commuting was the best way to go so as I can tell my readers how to get to a place in the cheapest possible way.lusot

ALEGRE BEACH RESORT and SPA

I guess it was the first time the staff greeted guests arriving in a motorbike.Even so,the staff and crew at the front desk were non-discriminating.They welcomed us with big smile on their face.Cheers to Cebuano hospitality!

We immediately checked in our deluxe room accommodation .I was surprised at how spacious it is with two double beds.If this is the cheapest accommodation in Alegre,I wonder how it would be in the most expensive room? A cabana with a private garden perhaps?

The wood floor in the bedroom area adds to the  nature resort feel but the all marble restroom adds sophistication and class to it. I looooove the bath tub although a little small to fit a couple.Spent hours in the tub as usual.Happiness!

We settled in our room and rested for a while.I relaxed my back in the soft bed a bit while my wife stayed at the terrace eating fruits complimentary of the hotel.Vacation mode activated!

Alegre Beach Resort and Spa is a sprawling resort.Entering the property is like entering a cocoon of nature sanctuary. The many trees all over the place makes you forget the outside world and simply be at peace with nature.Expect a lot of walking though and climbing on stairs as the terrain is slopy. If you are the restless,fast-paced type who wants everything 'instant',things will not work for you at first.Relax.This resort is about letting go.It's about slowing down.Remember that peace and serenity starts from within.Allow the resort of slow you down. This is your chance.

" Alegre provides respite to people who wants to reconnect with nature and bond with their family". I can attest to that.

I was excited to check the beach.I have seen a lot of resorts with exclusive beach fronts that are rather disappointing.Having one could be a big asset but it could also be a liability. There are cases when the resort is too beautiful for the private beach or the beach is too beautiful for the resort. The latter is better but it's best when the two factors compliment each other.I therefore held my breath while going down the steps to the beach front.

And the view that greeted us evaporated all my worries.

I looove The Cliff Seafood BBQ and Bar near the beach where you can order cocktails and/or have dinner  (on a first come, first serve basis as there are only two tables available). I have already marked the place and imagined having dinner there but it rained that night so we just spent most of our time chatting at the terrace of our room.

Good thing we were scheduled for massage at Alegre Spa that same night. It was my first time to try Indonesian Massage and I can't wait to share the experience to you.More on it in a separate post. The rain already stopped by the time we finished having massage.Perfect time to wander around and appreciate the peace of the night in a resort setting.

I thought I felt hungry after the massage so I grabbed something at the restaurant.Food is a bit pricey.Well, what to expect from a high end accommodation?

try Alegre Sisig --delectably spicy :)
I also managed to take a few long exposures by the poolside before going back to our room.

We made sure to wake up early the next day.I always miss the "magic hour in photography" during our trips coz it's so tempting to cuddle in bed.7am was the earliest we managed. We strolled down the beach and took tons of photos it was already too hot for swimming when we finished.

Had a hearty breakfast at Ilang-ilang Cafe the next day with the wonderful view of the pool and sea below. The Resort is aware of the tight competition from other accommodations in Cebu.It is therefore upgrading its facilities including the main restaurant. The restaurant is central to the life of the resort especially because it is strategically located next to the pool and provides entry to the beach.Since it was closed for renovation,we had to go around just to get to the beach.it didn't bother me at all,but I thought, "what more if they have it fully operational by November" .I imagined a big open air restaurant with the view of the pool on one side, and the sea on the other.Grand!

We then lazied by the pool for a while. ...........

They have a 47-meter swimming pool and 2 children’s pools. The warm water was too tempting so we went for a quick swim.

We also explored other parts of the resort. All in all, the property is 7 hectares but not all of it is developed. Some portion is still the forest that it used to be.There is this section where you can view the sea  and the beach below.

Alegre has three (3) private beach coves. The thing about the sand though is that it shifts between coves depending on the season.During our stay, two of the coves have sands while the other is bare. The photo below was taken in one of the coves. This one immediately below the pool area.

  7. I really enjoy reading your blog! I'm moving to St. Monique next year, but I have some reservations.
I also work online so mahalaga sa akin ang net connection at power supply. May I ask kung anong internet provider mo? How is the speed? Do you happen to know kung gumagana din ang SmartBro at Globe Tattoo (for backup internet) sa St. Monique? Malimit ba mag black out?

    Thanks in advance! :)
