TSan Fernando branch's lobby has this "good old, clean, spacious and comfortable" lobby Microtel is known for and the modern feels and looks of TRYP Mall of Asia which is the high-end brand of Wyndham hotels.

Based on our experience, the staff were attentive and pro-active in looking after the needs of their guests. This is the part where most newly-opened hotels fail at due to inexperienced staff but that is not the case here. I felt that they are all seasoned and well prepared for the job. They know what to do and they are good at it.

Take Note: All rooms are non-smoking rooms. There is a designated smoking area outside, do ask the security guard on duty for it. And this is what I like about Microtel locations in the Philippines, with "no smoking in-public" a national directive, they designate smoking areas so as smokers are not like "bad guys" sneaking around just to smoke.
Also, kudos to their rooms for Persons with Disability (PWD). Rooms with mobility access is available in all Microtel Philippines locations so be sure to ask for it.
We came here to relax and was exactly what we achieved. Who cares if it was a stormy weekend? All the more that we had a reason to stay in the hotel and cuddle the whole day. It would have been lovely to try the pool as this outdoor pool is so tempting but we decided to just do it next time. It helped that the room beds are so comfortable and the sheets are new and fresh. Also thanks to fast in-room wifi, we were so comfortable just lazying around.
Swimming Pool
To date, it is the only hotel in San Fernando City that has a swimming pool. It's an outdoor pool at ground level which has become a popular photoshoot venue for pre-nups and other life events. A high concrete fence cocoons it from the outside so safety and privacy is maintained. At 4-feet deep, it is suitable for both kids and adults. It would have been better if it were a bit bigger since there is still a lot of available space around it but it is sufficient enough to accommodate a hotel of this size. There are loungers so that guests can just relax around the pool and on another side are tables and chairs too. It is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy with your family and friends.
Meeting Room (s)
The hotel sits next to Laus Events Center which is a large venue for corporate events but Microtel San Fernando also has two meeting rooms which could morph into one that could accommodate up tp 80 persons. Perfect for meetings and small-size receptions.

NOTE: If you are coming from Manila and you want to avail of the free pick-up, better opt for SM Pampanga. It is easier to find you there. We were tempted to stop at Robinson's Pampanga and ( no offense) that mall is so messy we went to the main entrance but it has no shed so we could not wait outside due to heavy rains so we went back at the back ( transport area) to have us picked up.
Restaurant
Microtel San Fernando is the only Microtel location I know of that doesn't have its own kitchen. I mean, there is a dining area at the ground floor next to the lobby but they don't prepare their own food. Inside the Laus Group compound are several restaurant locators with Pancake House as one of them. The hotel partnered with the latter to provide breakfast for its guests. That said, reception would ask you upon check-in your choice of breakfast among the five (5) set meals available.
Breakfast Choices:
1/2 Daing na Bangus, egg, rice
Pork Tocino, egg, rice
2 pcs Pan Chicken, rice
Bratwurst, egg, rice
Corned beef, hash
Other than the the plated breakfast of your choice, there are other complimentary food available on buffet like coffee, juices, creals, breads/toasts, salads and fresh fruits to compliment your meal.
My Take: I haven't tried Pancake House for a while so I was a bit skeptical when I found out that they provide the breakfast of the hotel but I was surprised at how good it is. If this is the quality of pancake House breakfast then I would frequent their locations. I was happy that the three plated dishes we chose --- bangus, tocino and chicken ---- were all nice. It didn't feel like fast-food-ish at all, instead, it felt like eating at the comfort of your own home. And thanks to the additional food the hotel provides, breakfast with this kind of setup definitely works!

For this particular visit, we stayed in a queen room with two queen beds as we were expecting a local friend to join us but he was not able to do so due to a family emergency. This room type is perfect if you are travelling with friend. For couples, I would suggest a queen suite and for families, the Two-Bedroom Queen Suite which has a bunk bed for kids. Would be lovely to stay in a Queen Suite next time.

Transportation/ How To Get Here
If you are commuting, here is the way to get to the hotel. Take the bus to SM Pampanga. Buses from Cubao Metro Manila bound Battan drop by SM Pampanga, be sure to look for the signboard or ask the driver if they do. From there, you can take a taxi to the hotel (less than 100 pesos) or book a Grab car, although based on our experience, could be unreliable to to limited availability. Disclaimer, it was a stormy weekend so I guess it disrupted their service. We attempted so many times to book Grab to go around but nothing successful. At any rate, the hotel has a van dedicated for transfer to an from SM Pampanga. Simply take note of the van schedule below.Shuttle Service Schedule:

This kind of food-arrangement setup makes sense because Pampanga is famously known as the country's culinary capital and patrons are of course tempted to go out and explore food choices in the city. There are many to choose from. Our favorite being Bale Capampangan which offers an unbeatable buffet for only 395 php per pax. I will write a separate entry for this restaurant soon.

This is what I love about Microtel locations, especially outside Metro Manila, they have ample parking space, and it is free!
By the way, they are proud of their lawns here and they keep them really green and well taken cake of. No wonder while this hotel is popular for pre-nuptial shoots.
