you might want to check the 1st day
post on the

After haveing a blast in Alaminos and the Hundred Islands on the 1st day of the Westerrn Pangasinan Tour, we woke up early and left for Bolinao at around 7am. It was surprisingly a sunny morning, in direct contrast to the cloudy and humid weather in Manila. The bus ride from Alaminos to Bolinao town is only  45 minutes and costs 60 pesos. We got there at around 8:00 am where Mr. Nelson, the manager of Puerto del Sol Resort Bolinao was waiting for us.  The 1st stop was at Saint James Catholic Church right at the center of town.

ISLANDIA HOTEL : a wise choice when in Alaminos

this is still part of the
on location: Alaminos City

Looking for accommodation in Alaminos could be a tricky business. So when we decided to push for the Western Pangasinan tour, the hotel was one of our utmost priority. We thought of camping in the Hundred Islands but decided not to take the risk since its still officially rainy season in the Philippines. One more thing, a comfortable bed is the best reward a tired traveler can give himself after being out all day.

Islandia Hotel is a famous accomodation in Alaminos City as it has been a venue of many big gatherings including Miss Earth 2008. Kuya estan also mentioned that it is here where they stayed during last year's Lakbay Norte.

And there are many reasons why Islandia Hotel is the best choice when in Alaminos.

1st part of the

Recognizing the potential of Western Pangasinan as the next growth area for tourism, a group of travel, events and photography bloggers from Manila have decided to set out on a tour which will map out a sample route which travelers can use as a reference. The journey took place on November 20-21 across the municipalities of Alaminos and Bolinao.

The idea started with Mica since she is a native of Dagupan. Being a Pangasinense myself, I supported her in this undertaking. We are now both based in Manila but this is our way of giving back to our hometown. Aside from Josh Uy who is living in Santa Barbara, 7 other bloggers from NCR joined us.

mangrove forest : sabang puerto prinsesa

Anda, my hometown is also a fishing community. That means I am no stranger to mangroves. But I have never seen a mangrove forest before. I never thought mangroves could actually grow this big---like full size trees.

Good thing when we traveled to Puerto Princesa last September, specifically Sabang where the Underground river is, we decided to take a glimpse of the mangrove forest. Many tourists skip this part as it is separate from the main underground river tour. We almost did the same thing because of exhaustion but I thought, since we are already here, why not make the most of our stay and cover as many areas as possible. The boat paddling through the mangrove forest is really a learning and fun experience.

Pilipinas Kay Ganda : falls short of the entertainment value of dora the explorer

I am no VIP but going to the official launch of Department of tourism's new campaign last night dubbed PILIPINAS KAY GANDA made me feel that I wasted my time. All I felt was discomfort and nervousness.I was uncomfortable because I thought the logo is so childish and downright elementary, nervous because I am hoping this new campaign will not put taxpayers money down the drain on a tourism gimmick which is the worse in my memory.

I am not exaggerating, all of the people around me, both those who were at the launch last night at Oceana Restaurant San Miguel By the Bay and those who are closely monitoring it online are unanimous with their opinion----- It's a crap. It pales in comparison to DORA THE EXPLORER......

Was it because I was pessimistic even before going to the event? I don't think so. Whoever is in his right mind would feel the same way upon hearing it. PILIPINAS KAY GANDA? I thought it was actually inspired by the new tv variety show in ABS-CBN  Pilipinas Win na Win!!!! Some even thought Vice Ganda was behind all of this.

Angono Petroglyphs

Being new in Rizal, I thought of exploring the province more. This is my way of integrating with my new adopted province. Sounds like a good idea because I actually have a lot of  misconceptions of this place. I thought of it as an expansion of the slums of Manila---- boring, crowded plains and isolated hills. But the more I get to explore, the more I appreciate it's beauty and the alternative it can offer to the urban jungle of the Metro.

One of the places I wanted to see was the Angono Petroglyps.I knew it is somewhere in Binangonan but I can't google how to get there. And so for those who have the same experience as I am, here it is. The Angono Petroglyps is only a few kilometers North of Thunderbird Resort Binangonan. to get here, it is advisable that you have your own car. Tricycles cannot traverse the slopes from downtown Angono passing through Eastridge golf and country club to this area because they are too steep. I heard that you can hire one from Antipolo at approximately 150php.

I actually call it tragedy because it's nothing short of being tragic. A peaceful community caught in the middle of the controversy surrounding its developer Globe Asiatique and Filmal Realty Corporation. Life at Saint Monique Valais is normal as usual but the ongoing problem is still hurting us one way or another.

It was mid August when the workers stopped coming. I didn't notice it at first until a friend who decided to get a unit here asked me. That's when things started to make sense to me. The problem started with Globe Asiatique's Xevera unit in Pampanga. Around 1,600 or so homeowners allegedly applied for a PAG-IBIG loan only to find out that these people don't exist. In short, they are ghost accounts. The case is still under investigation in the Senate and in other government legal offices until now and people are still to find out who is saying the truth.

manila ocean park musical fountain show promo

We were back in Manila Ocean Park last month to watch the musical fountain show. My wife missed it last time so when I heard that they were offering promo tickets I immediately registered our mobile phone numbers. It was easy, simply by registering in their website, you immediately get a text confirmation that you will show in the ticket booth upon your visit. The show is regularly priced 300 php but due to the promo it was made 50php. Not bad at all.

Here's the catch though, due to the strong public response, we had to stay in line longer. It was chaotic because of people flocking from all direction. After getting our tickets, we again had to queue for the next show so as to have a good seat. Everybody's assured of a seat of coarse but since I wanted to have a better angle than the 1st time, we had to bear with the crowd . We were successful. Here are the photos.

Philippine Yoga Asana Championship 2010

Been suffering from chronic back pains for almost a year now. It caused me panic a few months ago because it simply wouldn't go away. I googled for some possible reasons. Most of the research I found leads to sedate lifestyle. One doctor in youtube even blamed the invention of chairs for it. It was then that I realized that many of us suffer from back pains at least in our lifetime. My work requires me to be in front of the computer for hours so it only makes sense. I went to Philippine Orthopedic hospital a few months ago to make sure and the doctors advised me the same things, exercise and a lot of stretching. I am sure many of you also have the same situation. I am still to force myself to undergo change in lifestyle and I am calculating my options. Some advice yoga as a good compliment to exercise.

Then last Sunday, November 7, I was invited to witness the 2010 Philippine Yoga Asana Championship at RCBC Plaza's Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium.

Philippine Fashion Week 2010: Penshoppe Summer-Spring Collection

A lot of firsts this year. My first to attend the Philippine Fashion Week as a new media blogger.I was excited when I heard of the invite coz this will be the first time to put my nikon dslr on a fashion photography test. With the thrill is the nervousness because I still don't have a zoom lens and I am not confident that my kit lens will be enough to take tight shots as expected of fashion shows. Good thing we were seated on the 2nd front row.

I still feel my photos failed but I don't want to put so much emphasis on that. This post is about PENSHOPPE's Summer-Spring collection for 2011 in the Philippine Fashion Week last October 30 at SMX Convention Center.

keep discovering at Nido Science Discovery Center

It's the premiere Science Center in the Philippines, the Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center in SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Pasay. Most people, including myself , think this place is for kids. Well it is for kids, but there's one thing I realized on my visit last Saturday, "it's not just for kids". It's for all inquisitive minds out there and for everyone who has the desire for discovery burning in their heart.

Everybody's aware that I used to teach science (particulary chemistry) in high school years back,so when I got the invite to visit Nido Science Discovery Center, I didn't think twice. I wasn curious what's inside but I have always opted to visit other attraction in MOA like the IMAX Theater on the opposite side and the Bowling Center. I simply didn't know what I was missing all this time.

There are so many things to explore.....

some candid photos from Party Pilipinas

I got tons of pictures to sort out for the Philippine Fashion Week so I will keep you suspended on that topic first. For now, I would like to tell you of another event, our sudden visit to GMA 7, yeah, the network company.

Sudden because I never thought it would happen. At least not soon. But social networking is really amazing. When a famous blogger posted in his wall " who is free on Sunday?", I immediately replied. Already had a hunch. I have always been curious about the talents in these Sunday Musical Variety Shows which are very popular in the Philippines, Party Pilipinas formerly SOP is one of them.

I wanna share with you some candid photos I took during the show. Still lucky to have taken a few as we had an unpleasant time trying to take our dslr's in. Hope you enjoy!!!
